QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree, 2 years of higher education, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
The Hebron Board of Education has an anticipated Paraeducator opening at Hebron Elementary School.
Position Summary:
Paraeducators work with students with special needs under the direction of a special education case manager and classroom teacher to assist in the implementation of IEP goals and objectives. Supports and works in cooperation with the Principal, Dean of Students, Director of Special Education, and assigned teacher in performing the varied tasks within a classroom, cafeteria, playground, and throughout the school. The ideal candidate has prior experience in this role, and is flexible to adapt to the changing nature of the demands of the class. They will work closely with an assigned teacher and support them in their duties. Typical tasks include working with students in groups and individually during lessons, assisting with lesson plans and materials. Supervisor/Evaluation: Receives general supervision and performance evaluation from Principal and/or Dean of Students with significant input from teachers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with children individually and in small groups to reinforce basic skills and to check their use of instructional materials under the supervision of the teacher.
As assigned, support implementation of students’ Individual Education Program goals and objectives under the supervision of the responsible certified special education staff.
As assigned, support implementation of students’ behavior management plans under the supervision of the responsible certified special education staff.
Assist the teacher in the development and construction of materials to be used as reinforcement activities.
Help to prepare the room, materials, and equipment for daily use.
Provide routine non-teaching classroom procedures.
Participate in staff meetings and in-service programs as requested by the principal, dean of students, or teacher.
Provide supervision for non-classroom activities as directed by the principal and dean of students (bus arrival/departure, lunch room, and playground).
Plan with the teacher the execution of follow-up activities to reinforce initial instruction provided by the teacher.
Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community, following and upholding school rules and standards.
Safely supervise students in both instructional and assessment activities in and out of the classroom.
Skills:
Effective communication skills; oral, written and visual with adults and children
Understanding of basic principles of childhood development
Familiarity with educational software or willingness to learn
Qualifications:
Associates Degree, 2 years of higher education, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
Prior experience working with students strongly desired
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Excellent interpersonal skills
Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:

SALARY: $18.98 - $21.04 (Based on 2025-2029 UPSEU Contract)
