Job Description:

Position Overview:
Woodbridge School District is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team. This position focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a Pre-K to Grade 6 setting. Those experienced with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), behavior intervention strategies, reading intervention, and/or specialized classroom programming are encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:
Instruction & Student Support:
Develop and implement individualized instructional programs aligned with students' IEPs.
Utilize evidence-based practices, to support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs in various settings, including inclusion, resource, and self-contained classrooms.

IEP Development & Compliance:
Write measurable and meaningful IEP goals aligned with student needs and CT standards.
Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
Conduct and participate in special education evaluations, re-evaluations, and eligibility meetings.

Collaboration & Communication:
Work collaboratively with general education teachers, paraeducators, related service providers, and administrators to support student success.
Maintain open and consistent communication with families, providing updates on student progress and engaging them in the IEP process.
Serve as a case manager for assigned students, ensuring compliance with dates, services, and reporting requirements.

Behavioral Support & Intervention:
Contribute to and implement proactive behavior management strategies and individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
Work with the school team to support students with significant behavioral needs, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.

Professional Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with progress monitoring and IEP reporting schedules.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture that values inclusion, diversity, and equity in education.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
Valid CT teaching certification in Special Education.
Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and data-driven instruction.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families.
