Job Description:
The Special Education Teacher plays a crucial role in aligning with the District's vision and mission, which focus on engaging students and fostering accountability, especially for those with developmental disabilities. This position demands a strong commitment to ensuring student success through the application of best practices and the development of individualized educational programs tailored to meet each student's unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Best Practices: Stay current with effective strategies and best practices for supporting students with developmental disabilities.
- Data-Based Decision Making: Utilize a data-driven model to design, analyze, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized educational programs to ensure student success and holistic development.
- Instructional Planning: Develop and plan instructional activities that meet individual students' and groups' academic, social/emotional, and cultural needs.
Communication Skills: I exhibit strong oral and written communication skills; and collaborate with colleagues across various disciplines to foster student success.
- Program Coordination: Oversee and coordinate the implementation of programs by para-educators, providing necessary training and supervision.
Collaborative Planning: Collaborate with general education teachers to support skill development and ensure the generalization of skills across different school settings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Strong understanding of developmental disabilities and best practices in special education.
