NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION:   Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher

 LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT:  Center Elementary School

 ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE:  March through May

 DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:  

Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher needed for leave of absence at Center Elementary School during the 2024-2025 school year.

Specific duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Delivering instruction to students who require specialized instruction in literacy and numeracy

Progress monitoring student growth and collaborating with general education team members

Monitoring and assessing individual education goals

Overseeing the work of paraprofessionals to ensure that students are receiving appropriate academic, social and behavioral instruction and interventions

Performing other related responsibilities that support the special education needs of students in the school

 Salary based on daily sub rate  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Connecticut Certification Comprehensive Special Education, Pre-K-12 (65) or Certification Comprehensive Special Education Grades K-12 (165) or Comprehensive Special Education, 1-12 (265)

Experience and knowledge regarding differentiated instruction and inclusive educational practices

Knowledge of IDEA and the PPT process

Knowledge and experience in instruction of reading and mathematics using a variety of specialized resources and programs

Provide direct instruction to students in the resource and classroom setting

Develop and evaluate measurable goals and objectives

Evaluate students as needed using standards based and curriculum-based measures

Supervise paraprofessionals relative to students on caseload

Collaborate with regular and Special Services staff and administrators

Establish and maintain frequent communication with parents of students on caseload
