Position Overview:
The Stratford School District is seeking a Classroom Paraeducator to join a K-6 classroom at Franklin Elementary School. This position involves providing academic, behavioral, and personal care support to elementary students in a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by the teacher.
Assist with academic instruction, classroom activities, and social-emotional learning tasks.
Provide personal care support to students, including toileting, feeding, and lifting as needed.
Monitor and collect data on student progress and behavior to inform instructional and behavioral practices.
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other team members to create a positive learning environment.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages academic achievement, personal growth, and inclusivity.
Qualifications:
An Associate’s Degree or a passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment (Parapro) is required.
Experience working with K-6 students, particularly those requiring academic, behavioral, or personal care support, is strongly preferred.
Ability to lift and assist students with mobility needs, as well as provide feeding and toileting support.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with patience and a commitment to student success.
