Job Description:

Wallingford Public Schools is seeking candidates for a Special Education Paraeducator position in the STARS (K-2) Program located at Stevens Elementary School. EOE

STARS is Wallingford Public Schools’ specialized autism program supporting the needs of students with autism who exhibit significant concerns with language, behavioral, and/or adaptive skills. This is an ABA (applied behavioral analysis) based program designed to support each individual student’s needs, while systematically and explicitly increasing language, behavioral, and/or adaptive skills. Paraprofessionals in this position are required to implement specific behavior and academic plans with all students in the classroom.  The paraprofessional will follow guidance from the BCBA and teachers in regard to the most effective academic strategies to use with individual students.  It is important for the individuals who fill this position to be patient and positive, willing to accept feedback and have the ability to follow behavior and academic plans with fidelity.  Individuals in this position should also have training in emergency physical restraint techniques. 
 

$19.27 per hour, 31.25 hours per week.
