Phoenix Academy
The Job Coach works directly with students with special needs at various job sites and provides on-the-job training and feedback; also works closely with employers at various community/job sites. May require lifting and/or restraints.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the implementation of the Windham Public Schools Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations, and directives
Follow Windham Public School policy to ensure student safety
Assist with IEP accommodations as needed
Follow the teacher's oral or written directions with accuracy
Transport students to and from job sites as well as provide job shadowing experiences
Assist students with completing applications
Assist students with requirements for graduation
Apply systematic training skills to assist students in performing their jobs effectively Assist the teacher with documentation of student progress
Encourage students to interact appropriately with peers
Assist students during recess, breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, on school buses and field trips
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
Knowledge/Skills:
Experience working with young children
Ability to implement behavioral goals
Ability to understand child development
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Effective, active listening skills
Ability to work effectively with others
Organizational and problem-solving skills
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency
Bachelor's Degree
Successful experience in the position
Two (2) years of experience working with children or young adults in a school setting, preferred
Experience working with students with special needs
Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred, not required
