Job Description:

Ellington Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Alternative Education Program Administrator to lead The Ellington Collaborative which includes our K-12 BASES (Behavior Academic Social Emotional Support) Program, TEPSEP (Expulsion) Program, and ECLIPSE (Transition) Program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering relationships within the school community and beyond, ensuring student academic and social development, and providing wrap-around services that support the diverse needs of students in grades K through age 22.

Lead the daily operations required of two off-site alternative school locations, including but not limited to the following:  Safety Drills, Supervision and Evaluation, Student Discipline, Curriculum and Instruction, and Communication with Families and Stakeholders. 
Develop and implement innovative curricula and instructional strategies tailored to the needs of alternative education students.  
Build schedules to meet the needs of the students.
Collaborate with school counselors at Ellington High School to ensure credit tracking and graduation requirements are aligned.
Attend all PPTs and meetings with community service organizations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and public agencies to enhance support services and student outcomes.  
Oversee social-emotional and crisis intervention programs, ensuring that all students receive the necessary support to thrive both academically and personally.  
Collaborate with Ellington building administrators at all levels to align services and initiatives across the district.  
Manage the program budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.  
Regularly assess program effectiveness and implement systems for improvements based on data and feedback.  
Provide professional development and training for staff on best practices in alternative education and support systems.
Hire and evaluate faculty and staff.
Coordinate the intake of out-of-district referrals to the Ellington Program.
Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Extended School Year specifically designed for students with disabilities.
Participate in all out-of-district PPTs and develop IEPs for Magnet and Charter Schools.
Finalize all CT-SEDS IEPs.
Lead and develop all new Transition requirements for the ECLIPSE Program (18-22).
Lead and support the Cowbell (School Store) business development of summer school programs specifically designed for students with disabilities.

Qualifications: 
Valid Connecticut Administrator Certification (092) or equivalent.  
Prefer Special Education Certification, however, will consider those who will seek certification through AARC or other programming within 2 years. 
Proven experience in building administration, particularly within alternative education settings.  
Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and special education laws and practices.  
Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.  
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a school community.  
Experience managing budgets and resources effectively. 
Out of District Magnet and Private Schools 

Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with social-emotional learning frameworks and crisis intervention strategies.  
Experience in community outreach and partnership development.  
Knowledge of current trends in alternative education and student support services.
