Job Description:

Bloomfield Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Instructional Assistant for Special Education for Laurel Literacy Academy.
 
Work Year: Ten-month position (190 days)
 
Work Week: 32.5 hours/week
 
Qualifications: Skills and knowledge minimum - Associate’s Degree or equivalent 

Responsibilities:
    Experience in working with children
    Experience working with medically fragile students preferred
    Ability to lift and use proper body mechanics to move students with physical disabilities
    Willingness to support hygiene/toileting and diapering needs of adolescent medically complex students
    Provide assistance to mandated students under the supervision of special education teachers
    Ability to work with a special needs student in a classroom environment and ability to follow teacher and related staff instructions in regard to work modifications and behavior plans
    Strong behavior management skills
    Ability to present material in a clear and efficient manner
    Ability to help organize content area information
    Ability to consistently implement instructional and behavior programs for special education students under the direction of a special education teacher
    Ability to relate to students, teachers, and staff in a positive and effective manner

Effective Date: Immediately     

Hourly Wage: $20.35-$24.03 (Dependent upon experience)
