Job Description:

LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for a full/part-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) opening for our magnet schools, district contracts, and specialized programs.
 
General Scope of Responsibilities
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides direct treatment to students and consultation to other adults on behalf of the students.
 
Relationship within the Organization
The COTA will be responsible to the Deputy Executive Director and Director of Special Services.
 
Responsibilities:
The COTA shall:
 
· Provide direct treatment to students with diverse special needs according to certification, professional guidelines and as documented by team goals and objectives.
· Provide varied levels of consultation to other team members and appropriate adults on behalf of the student as determined by the Occupational Therapist.
· Contribute to monitoring and adapting student programs.
· Prepare progress reports and daily notes.
· Attend appropriate meetings including but not limited to Planning and Placement Team meetings and staff meetings.
· Maintain equipment and materials.
· Support staff providing programs and provide appropriate feedback.
· Provide input regarding policy, program, and procedures.
· Provide one in service a year to parents, teachers, or therapists.
· Lift/restrain students when necessary.
· Perform other duties associated with the assistant therapist position.
· Meet with supervising Occupational Therapist as appropriately determined.
 
Qualifications:
 
· Experience providing therapy to children and adults with special needs.
· Appropriate certification and coursework
