Job Description:

Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a full-time Elementary School Psychologist at Gallup Hill School. This role provides support to parents, staff, and students to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. This is to fill a current vacancy.

Qualifications:
    Connecticut School Psychologist certification required (070)
    Demonstrated knowledge of child psychology principles, assessments, methods, behavior modification, etc., and current developments in child psychology
    Experience providing counseling to elementary students
    Demonstrated understanding of special education and Section 504 laws and procedures as well as the PPT process
    Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
    Experience evaluating behavior on the basis of clinical observations, interviews with students, teachers, other school staff and parents, reports of other professionals, and review of school records and test results.

Responsibilities:
    Provides individual and small group counseling sessions and social skills instruction.
    Collaborates with staff to develop and implement behavior intervention plans
    Interprets findings to teachers to assist them in working effectively and sensitively with their students in order to strengthen academic progress
    Advises and counsels parents in order to facilitate the educational progress of their children
    Collects progress monitoring data to inform goal development for social and emotional instruction
    Recommends strategies, techniques and materials to enhance instructional improvement for all students
    Aids in identification of students at risk, participating in the development of treatment strategies
    Maintains appropriate records of service provision
    Regularly uses technology to assist in accomplishing job responsibilities and meeting school and district goals
    Consults with staff members to improve the classroom environment according to students’ individual and group needs
    May conduct diagnostic evaluations to assist in determining eligibility for special education services and 504 accommodations
    Participate in Safety Care

Physical Requirements:
    Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing
    Must be able to traverse the environment and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning
    The position may require physical interaction with students who have difficulty regulating emotions and controlling behavior
    Traveling between three elementary schools
