LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for a full-time Lead Board-Certified Behavior Analyst opening.
General Scope of Responsibility
The Lead Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) serves as the clinical supervisor for all ABA services. The BCBA conducts functional behavioral analysis, generates related behavioral plans, and ensures the effective implementation of all treatment and programming for students on their caseload.
Relationship within Organization
The Lead Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is directly responsible to the Director of Behavioral Services and Programs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead ABA programming for individuals with autism and/or significant behavioral challenges.
- Design, develop, and implement individualized programs to build skills and promote independence in areas such as: "learning to learn" (e.g., observing, listening, following instructions, imitating), communication (vocal and nonvocal), social interaction, self-care, and school readiness, academics, self-preservation, motor skills, play/leisure, and community living, and self-monitoring, pre-vocational, and vocational skills.
- Collaborate effectively with professionals from other disciplines and with family members to promote consistent intervention and to maximize outcomes.
- Mentor and support new BCBAs.
- Provide supervision to prospective BCBA students as deemed appropriate.
- Works collaboratively to create systems of student review and trains others.
- Work collaboratively with the Director to implement new evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with higher education facilities to add to continuous improvement methods.
- Provide direct instruction, training, and support to students.
- Collaborate with team members to design individualized student programs and related data structures using evidence-based interventions.
- Participate as a lead in Data/Program Review meetings to ensure proper progress monitoring and all data/monitoring procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team.
- Design, model and train staff to implement strategies outlined in student Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Effectively manage caseload, prepare and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide feedback to staff members to ensure the proper implementation of student program/behavior plans.
- Conduct functional behavior assessments (e.g., FBA, PFA, FA,) based on student needs.
- Collaborate effectively with professionals from other disciplines and with family members to promote consistent intervention and to maximize outcomes.
- Work closely with the Behavior Specialists in their provision of direct services and provide the needed resources and guidance to assist clients, parents, and Behavior Specialists in the development and implementation of behavior protocols.
- Supervise BCaBAs.
- Supervise Intervention Specialists and conduct observations and develop plans for professional growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director.
- Maintain certification in good standing.
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Licensed Behavior Analyst (CT).
- 5 years BCBA experience.
- Licensed with Behavioral background.
- Completed 8-hour supervision training.
- Experience in evaluation and treatment of children with serious behavioral problems and spectrum disorder required.
