Job Description:

POSITION: Paraprofessional
SCHOOL: Amity Middle School-Orange Campus
HOURLY WAGE RANGE: $20.40 - $21.68 
BENEFITS: According to Paraprofessional Union Contract
START: Approx. 01/07/2025

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The requirements of this job will require ta Paraprofessional to work alongside the students; therefore the Paraprofessional must be able to physically perform all the same tasks as required of the student which may include but will not be limited to:
  • Lifting
  • Bending
  • Climbing Stairs
  • Kneeling
  • Walking Distances
  • Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Navigating tight areas

PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION:

  • Either a minimum of an Associate's Degree or the candidate is willing to successfully complete the Para-Pro Assessment once hired;

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Pupil Services, the responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Implement the student’s IEP as written, collect data as required and prepare reports summarizing such data
  • Supervise students on district provided transportation before the start of the school day and after the school day ends.
  • Model and demonstrate appropriate professional and social skills at all times by creating and maintaining a relationship with the student that is understanding, communicative, and supportive, the same expectation is held for relationships that the Paraprofessional enters into with staff of Amity Regional School District No. 5
  • Ensure that the student is safe socially, emotionally, economically and physically at all times with-in all settings
  • Work collaboratively with Coordinator of Pupil Services and Special Education teachers to design student schedules
  • Understand and follow all Amity BOE policies, procedures and regulations
  • Attend all meetings and trainings as required by Amity BOE including those provided through Global Compliance Network
  • Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Pupil Services or the Director of Pupil Services
