Middle School / High School Special Education Teacher
Intensive Education Academy is actively seeking a Middle/High School Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated team for the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time position reports directly to the Director of Education, offering an opportunity to contribute to a nurturing educational environment tailored to students with diverse needs. Qualifications - Requirements:
- CT State Teacher Certification in Special Education (065, 165, 265)
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required; Master’s degree in Special Education preferred
- Strong behavior management skills and experience working with children with diverse educational, social, and emotional needs
- Ability to establish positive and constructive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Commitment to exceeding standards of professional and ethical practices and responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement personalized instructional plans based on students' Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes productive learning, positive behaviors, and independence
- Document academic, behavioral, and social/emotional progress through data collection
- Participate in the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Draft and implement clear and measurable IEP goals and objectives
- Assess student learning and adjust instructional strategies to meet student needs
- Collaborate with colleagues, including Special Subject Teachers (Art, Music, PE) and Related Service personnel, to support student accommodations and modifications
- Attend and actively participate in PPT meetings, IEP reviews, and parent/teacher conferences
- Maximize instructional time by effectively managing classroom routines and transitions
- Engage in continuous professional development and stay current with educational best practices
