Job Overview:
North Haven Public Schools is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join the
RISE Program at Clintonville Elementary School. The BCBA will provide behavioral support
and consultation for students with special needs who participate in our specialized RISE
program, which serves students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other related
behavioral challenges. The BCBA will collaborate with the educational team to develop and
implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), conduct functional behavior
assessments (FBAs), and train staff in effective behavioral techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with Educational Teams: Work closely with special education staff, teachers,
and administrators to develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior
intervention plans (BIPs) for students in the RISE program.
● Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs): Lead the FBA process, and gather and
analyze behavioral data to inform the development of effective, individualized
interventions for students.
● Provide Direct Consultation and Support: Offer ongoing consultation to classroom staff
on implementing behavioral strategies, managing challenging behaviors, and supporting
students’ social-emotional needs.
● Provide Training and Professional Development: Train and coach staff in the RISE
program on evidence-based behavioral interventions and strategies, data collection
techniques, and best practices for managing students' behavior in the classroom setting.
● Monitor Student Progress: Regularly collect and analyze behavioral data to track the
effectiveness of interventions and make data-driven decisions to modify plans as needed.
● Attend and Participate in Meetings: Participate in the Planning and Placement Team (PPT)
meetings for students in the RISE program, providing expertise on behavior management, and offering updates on student progress.
● Crisis Intervention Support: Provide support in crisis situations, implementing
de-escalation techniques and ensuring safe practices for both students and staff.
● Maintain Documentation: Keep detailed records of all behavior assessments,
interventions, and student progress, ensuring compliance with district policies and state
regulations.
Qualifications:
● Certification: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification is required; and
must be maintained by the identified BCBA candidate.
● Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college. A Master's degree in
Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or a related field is preferred. Valid
Connecticut Teaching certification is also preferred, but not required.
● Experience:
○ At least two years of experience working with students in a school setting,
particularly with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or other
behavioral challenges.
○ Experience in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and
developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
● Skills:
○ Strong knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and effective behavior
management strategies.
○ Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other school
staff.
○ Proficiency in data analysis and using technology for tracking and reporting
student progress.
○ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
○ Ability to model behavior management strategies and provide ongoing
professional development for staff.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
● Ability to travel to Clintonville Elementary School as required.
● Capability to support and manage students exhibiting challenging behaviors, including
the ability to physically intervene when necessary (with proper training and certification).
● Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and sometimes fast-paced school environment,
with varying levels of noise and activity.
● Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, or hear while performing the duties of the
position.
● Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
● Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
● Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 based on experience
