Job Description:
LEARN, southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for an anticipated School Psychologist opening at our Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton, Connecticut.
General Scope of Responsibilities
The School Psychologist is responsible for planning and implementing psycho-educational assessments, counseling and behavioral and educational strategies for assigned students; and for providing ongoing communication and consultation to program staff, parents, other clinicians and outside agencies.
Relationship within the Organization
The School Psychologist is responsible to the Director of Student Support Services.
Responsibilities
The School Psychologist shall:
- Plan and administer appropriate psycho-educational and other testing procedures.
- Prepare written reports and communicate/interpret results of evaluations/assessments.
- Prepare written reports on students' academic and behavioral progress, and prepare IEP goals and objectives.
- Organize, plan and provide counseling and other intervention strategies to students on an individual and/or group basis.
- Team with staff in designing, monitoring and implementing behavioral management techniques and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Team with staff in developing and/or implementing student crisis intervention plans.
- Provide ongoing communication to LEA and other agency contact persons, to other clinicians, and to parents.
- Review referral materials for assigned students being considered for program placement and serve on Child Study Team.
- Provide staff training activities in areas of specialization as assigned by program administrator.
- The Director(s) of Special Education may attach additional appropriate responsibilities unique to a particular program's need.
Experience, Knowledge, and Training
Education:
- Master's Degree, plus 45 semester hours of graduate work in a planned program in school psychological services.
Certification:
- School Psychologist certification required.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience administering and reporting psychoeducational assessments.
- Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and consulting with school-based teams to develop and implement effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Proven experience providing assessments and direct services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other special education needs.
