TITLE: Special Education Teacher
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Special Education
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Annually by the principal or designee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible citizens.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible citizens.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This description of Special Education Teacher is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs.
1. Implement current IEP objectives that have been identified by the students’ case managers.
2. Oversee and instruct paraprofessionals on their daily responsibilities.
3. Document and report on progress made by student
4. Ensure supervision and safety of all students during school day and school field trips.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· As set by the State certification requirements 065, 165 or 265.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bilingual (Spanish and English)
