Summary: The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for providing Speech and Language Therapy in the clinical setting. In addition to providing direct therapy, the Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for providing consultative/indirect training as needed, participating in the treatment planning process and supplying required documentation, and working in collaboration with the clinical team to develop appropriate treatments for patients. The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for maintaining appropriate licensure. Therapeutic effectiveness, interdisciplinary collaboration, and communication skills are required of the Speech and Language Pathologist.
Reports to: Chief Clinical Officer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment and Intervention Planning:
- Conduct assessments relevant to the patient’s abilities including screenings, and norms-based, criterion-referenced, and curriculum-based measures.
- Communicate results in written and oral formats to parents/caregivers, and to other relevant Prism team members.
- Evaluate, using ongoing data collection, the effectiveness of interventions and modify as needed.
- Provide AAC services including assessment, intervention, maintenance, and programming
Intervention and Supports
- Provide evidence-based, direct speech and language therapy services to young children
- Collaborate and consult with family members, other Prism personnel (when applicable) and outside related service providers to support a cohesive clinical plan for patients.
- Plan and facilitate social skills groups
- Providing parent and staff trainings
Professional Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain documentation necessary for payer requirements
- In collaboration with a mentor, understand and utilize correct billing codes for sessions completed.
- Participate in the hiring and interview process as needed and appropriate
- Participate in leadership, center-wide, and team meetings as needed
- Conduct self in professional manner and be a model for Prism’s core values
- Follow all ethical and professional guidelines put forth by the agency, Department of Health, ASHA, and state of CT licensure board.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess Certificate of Clinic Confidence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and must hold a valid CT Speech and Language Pathology License with the Department of Public Health
- 2+ years minimum experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist
- Experience working with children diagnosed with Autism
- Ability to perform other essential functions of the position, such as standing, walking, bending, sitting, kneeling, crouching, crawling and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledgeable on language and communication disorders, oral motor and feeding concerns, training and modeling use of AAC, Apraxia of speech and interventions to address these areas.
- Engage in analysis of one’s own behavior and seek opportunities for the development and refinement of clinical/professional skills
- Willingness to accept and ability to apply feedback
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledgeable about the science of Applied Behavior Analysis in educational settings

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
