Districtwide Therapy Supervisor and Manager of Extended Learning Opportunities (PreK-12)
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Occupational therapist is responsible for providing occupational therapy services to students referred through the District Planning and Placement Team process. Services will be provided to meet the specific educational needs of the children referred and will include evaluation, assessment, design of treatment programs, implementation, and supervision of treatment programs, and educational services. The work year for this position will be 184 days with the possibility of an additional 10 days during the summer, as needed, payable on a per diem basis.
QUALIFICATION PROFILE
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE
Occupational therapist licensed to practice in Connecticut.
Credentialed by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
EDUCATION
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with children or youth in school or community health programs.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Observe, evaluate and assess students referred for occupational therapy as it relates to their educational
needs.
Develop specific treatment plans and goals for each student relative to the child’s occupational/educational needs.
Implement occupational therapy as defined in the IEP based on physician approval.
Supervise, as needed, the administration of occupational therapy services by the occupational therapy assistant.
Adhere to the established practices and procedures of the school district.
Participate in the plan of treatment reviews, conferences, and PPTs.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with the policies of the New Britain Board of Education.
Assist in instructing other personnel and family members in certain phases of therapy.
Ensure completion of all required documentation of therapy services/activities.
Any other related duties assigned by the District-wide Lead Therapist or the Director of Pupil Services.

Must be familiar with specialized assistive technology devices.
Must be able to use a personal computer and job-related equipment.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to travel to schools throughout the district.

Salary and benefits as set forth in the Local 1186 collective bargaining agreement.
WORK SCHEDULE
Works standard schedule in accordance with the Local 1186 contract.
