Job Description:
The EASTCONN's Bridges Community School (Autism Program) is seeking a Student Support Specialist II to provide 1:1 support with children with autism and related disabilities. The Support Specialist II assists students and other classroom staff to promote a safe and healthy environment for learning within our Autism program in Columbia. Experience with children with autism spectrum disorders or significant behavioral needs and application of applied behavior analysis preferred.

Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School Diploma or GED, and
Experience: Employment as a Student Support Specialist I or comparable position.
Or: Combination of education and experience that is a substantial equivalent to the above education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. As required by the assigned program: Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully obtain and maintain certification in the relevant crisis management procedure implemented by the program to which they are assigned (e.g., Safety Care or PMT).
2. Depending on Program: Complete and maintain certification for First Aid and CPR.
3. Per program’s or school’s fidelity measures and expectations: Continually meet satisfactory criteria in 75% or more of assessed categories pertaining to student programming implementation.
