POSITION:
                       Behavioral Therapist – PAL Program
LOCATIONS:                    Middle Gate Elementary School
STARTING DATE:            Immediate
REMUNERATION:           $30.75/hour

Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of experience providing BT instruction; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special education practices (autism)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible, creative, possessing strong organizational skills
  • Highly motivated and self-directed

Duties and Responsibilities:
The BT will work closely with a designated special education teacher and BCBA and will:

  • Implement IEP goals as directed by the special education teacher
  • Work with other school based specialists and parents to implement additionally specified goals and objectives 
  • Implement programs developed by teacher(s) and consultant(s)
  • Teach daily living skills, social skills, receptive, and expressive language skills
  • Maintain accurate data and graphing on all designated programs
  • Plan and implement all aspects of systematic instructional sequences within self-contained classroom, inclusion environments, and reverse mainstream environments
  • Implement behavior intervention plans designed to reinforce appropriate behaviors and eliminate inappropriate behaviors including disruptive behaviors such as aggression or bolting
  • Meet regularly with special education teacher, BCBA, and support team
  • Attend staff meetings when appropriate
  • Video tape work sessions as appropriate  
  • Provide reports of student progress when deemed necessary by teacher and/or team
  • Maintain student safety including the application of crisis prevention interventions and physical management techniques, including protective holds, when necessary and appropriate

Performs additional related duties as may be requested by the BCBA/Director of Pupil Services
