Job Description:
West Hartford Public Schools has multiple vacancies for a full-time American Sign Language Interpreter position to support communication for the Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing children within the mainstream setting. Prefer candidates to have experience working with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students with varying needs and modes of communication. Specialized training and willingness to participate in training in the use of assistive devices, amplification equipment, and language facilitator techniques in various forms of sign language/spoken language preferred. Some before and after school duties are possible.
Requirements:
Duties include: signing/voicing teacher/student communications, facilitating communication between teacher/student/peers, supporting academic content, providing instructional support, and management of amplification systems.
