Anticipated Vacancy: Irving School seeks a dynamic, collaborative, school social worker to join our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Student Achievement
 
Provides individual and group counseling to students as required by student's Individualized Education Plans and as needed

Provides advice and support to teachers in creating curricula and providing instruction that supports the social and emotional health of the students and the school

Provides advice and support to the inclusion staff to address the impact of emotional difficulties on student learning

Observes and assesses students

Lead discussions among students on issues related to students’ behavior, emotional health, and social skills

Regularly communicates with families about strategies to support their child at home and school and the resources available within the school and broader community

Builds relationships with community organizations that provide health, mental health, recreation, and social support for families and make referrals for families as necessary

Serves as a resource for families on issues in the home that impact student success at school

Facilitates parent workshops focused on supporting families with mental health

Participates with the pupil personnel team in the ongoing effort to establish a school culture that reinforces the school’s mission, goals, and operating principles

Actively seeks out ways to continually improve his or her own practices in order to increase effectiveness in his or her role

 
EXPERIENCE

CT Certification

Experience working with students in under-resourced communities

Flexible, resourceful, energetic, passionate, and committed to creating an exceptional school

Belief in rigorous academics

Demonstrated ability to set and reach goals that will ensure high levels of achievement for all students

Demonstrated ability to involve families as partners

Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
