Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Elementary School Behavior Specialist. The Behavior Specialist works as a team member with teachers, counselors, school social workers and other personnel to establish positive student contacts that develop appropriate and positive behavior enabling students to succeed. This role works under the supervision of the building administration. This is a 10 month position, scheduled for 32.5 hours a week and follows the Ledyard Public Schools' calendar.

Responsibilities & Requirements:
Provide Tier 3 behavioral interventions in a safe and secure environment for students, staff and guests.
Provide coaching and support to  general education teachers to ensure equitable access for all students in the classroom
Respond to identified Tier 3 behavioral challenges on campus using determined interventions and requesting assistance as needed following protocol.
Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff and community members.
Participate in the implementation of  behavioral prevention and management strategies individualized to student needs
Communicate relevant behavior information and suggested modifications proactively and consistently with the appropriate staff members.
Successfully complete training for and application of intervention methods
Comply with all relevant district procedures
Demonstrate sound judgment, critical thinking and decision making
Other duties as assigned by the building administrator

Qualifications:
Two years of college credit, an associate's degree or 2 years relevant work experience required
Experience working in a school setting preferred
At least 2 years experience addressing the social/emotional needs of young children
Demonstrated skill related to emotional and mental health needs of children
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
