Job Description:

Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Meliora Academy is a small private school designed to provide intensive and comprehensive educational services to students with autism spectrum and related disorders.

This role is responsible for writing/consulting on Behavior Support Plans, overall behavior management, instructional programs, home programs and consulting to school districts regarding re-integration of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical supervision to staff
  • Complete functional behavioral assessments and communicate results to staff, parents and instructional team
  • Develop Behavior Support Plans
  • Assist in developing teaching plans/programs in coordination with the special education teacher
  • Provide ongoing training to staff around the principles of applied behavior analysis
  • Partner with instructional team to offer a multi-disciplinary program on-site
  • Attend home visits offering parent support, home programs and training
  • Assist in functional and developmental assessments
  • Assist with writing goals and objectives within the behavioral domain for student IEP’s
  • Development of progress reports related to goals and objectives, behavior support plans and home programs.
  • Graphing/data analysis/book checks
  • Prepare data and presentation to Internal Review Board as necessary
  • Provide supervision to BCBA interns

 

Knowledge of Subject Matter:

  • Knowledge and experience in applied behavior analysis
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of autism intervention methods
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate behavioral principles at a level commensurate with each person’s level of understanding
  • Ability to model interventions to staff and parents

 

Planning For Instruction:

  • Assisting the teacher with the development of protocols/methods to help students meet objectives
  • Development of data books/systems
  • Assist with measuring fidelity of data collected

 

Professional Development Program:

  • Maintain BCBA certification meeting the guidelines for continued training

 

Other Professional Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the teacher with taking necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities
  • Assisting in setting up, monitoring and analyzing student data
  • Summarizing data and making recommendations based on student data to parents, outside agencies, school districts and program staff.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • BCBA Certification
  • Autism and BCBA experience preferred
  • Receive and maintain trainer training in the core curriculum for crisis management at the chief administrator’s discretion
  • Receive and maintain supervision training to provide support and oversight for board certification candidates as well as registered behavior technicians
  • Receive and maintain certifications in Safety Care, First Aid and CPR
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull/move up to 60 lbs

 

Meliora follows a typical school calendar including a 7-week summer program.
