Job Description:
Ellington Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher with a focus on upper grades at Center Elementary School.
Job Summary: Through a collaborative approach between special education staff, general education staff and related service personnel, students are provided an individualized education program that ensures the improvement of skills in both academics and social/emotional behavioral skills. Collaboration across school personnel with a focus on a multi-disciplinary approach is key to the success of our students. Responsibilities of the upper grade elementary special education teacher include writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans that are based in data, chairing Planning and Placement Team meetings, progress monitoring, planning and implementing instruction in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics and executive functioning (small group and push-in instruction), partnering with parents to foster strong home/school connections and building meaningful connections with students.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a valid appropriate Connecticut teaching certificate. A state and national criminal check will be required as well as a DCF search. Please see our attached Teacher Contract for our highly competitive pay and benefits.
