Job Description:
POSITION: School Psychologist - 1.00 FTE
Location: Weston High School
JOB GOAL: To support the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of high school students
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Connecticut certification with endorsement (070)
Masters degree in school psychology or a related field from an accredited institution
Capable of establishing positive and productive working relationships with students, parents, and school staff
Excellent oral and written communication skills
WORK YEAR: 187 days
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with personal, social, or emotional challenges
Conduct psychological assessments to identify and evaluate students’ cognitive skills, adaptive skills, and emotional and behavioral concerns
Attend Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate interventions
Consult with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to address students’ social and emotional needs within the school setting
Communicate regularly with parents to discuss concerns and provide resources for supporting students’ mental health
Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions
Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
POSITION AVAILABILITY: Immediately
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Contract between the Weston Board of Education and the Weston Teachers’ Association.
