Job Description:

This position will be a combination of these two job descriptions with Job Coach being the primary focus.  Please consider both against your qualifications and job interests.

Job Coach
A Job Coach provides training, supervision, and support to students with IEPs in employment-related activities both at school and community worksites. Job coaches work to ensure a safe, positive and meaningful work experience for students. In addition to being responsible and creative the ideal candidate must be a caring and committed individual with a genuine passion for empowering neuro-divergent adolescents and young adults.

Job Coach Duties and Responsibilities
● Ensure the health, safety and well-being of students in accordance with the individual
crisis management plan (ICMP), individual education plan (IEP), and in compliance with
school policies and procedures.
● Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, co-workers, and other
community representatives.
● Assist students in the development of workplace skills, behaviors, and knowledge
through modeling and direct instruction, to assure the best possible opportunity for
successful competitive employment in the future.
● Act as an advocate and promote inclusion at the worksite as appropriate.
● Assist students with navigating workplace culture and establishing appropriate
relationships with coworkers and employers.
● Formally and informally evaluate student work performance and behaviors and provide
ongoing feedback to student and student’s educational team, enlisting support from
interdisciplinary team members as needed.
● Ensure professional & timely completion documentation in accordance with
requirements.
● Work with the transition coordinator to prepare students for job placement through
classroom and community experiences.
● Provide transportation for students in CTCA vehicles to and from job sites and other
community locations.
● Represent CTCA in a professional and positive light with workplace partners.
● Other duties, assignments, and work locations as assigned.
● Participate in school in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings
The Job Coach works under the direction of and answers to the transition coordinator on a daily basis, but also communicate with other members of the team, including school administrators. The parent/guardian also works with the team and is instrumental in all decision-making. The Job Coach does not communicate with the parent/guardian unless in a specific circumstance and only as directed by and in the presence of certified school personnel.

Job Qualifications
● High School Diploma or equivalent
● Experience working with neuro-divergent adolescence and young adults
● Must possess or be able to obtain an “A” endorsement on their driver’s license and be
willing to drive students in school vehicles or accompany them on public transportation
to a variety of work sites.

Intervention Specialist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist a single student or teacher-designated group with follow-up and practice activities under teacher direction
  • Work under the direction of teachers to implement IEP goals, accommodations and/or modifications (see glossary) as well as strategies and techniques that support student success
  • Provide assistance without disrupting the flow of teacher instruction
  • Observe student strengths and needs through daily learning activities; share findings with the teacher
  • Prepare and organize materials to support teaching and learning as directed
  • Use strategies, equipment, materials, and technologies as directed to accomplish learning needs
  • Use strategies as directed to facilitate learners' independence and confidence
  • Make and document objective observations as directed
  • Assist teachers in maintaining order, encouraging appropriate student behaviors
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior management plans under teacher supervision and as directed by a member of the education team; provide feedback
  • Assist in prompting, cueing, and redirecting student attention under teacher direction
  • Provide healthcare assistance in accordance with the school nurse
  • Assist certified staff in transporting and monitoring students on the school bus/van
  • Help students with assistive technology under the direction of the teacher, school nurse, and other related service providers
  • Reinforce student job tasks in a vocational-based class under the direction of the teacher or in the workplace if formal requirements have been met
  • Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Attend student meetings as requested
  • Assist the teacher on educational excursions
  • Assist certified staff in monitoring students in the hallway, cafeteria, recreation areas, etc.
  • Patriciate in school in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings
