Required Certifications & Qualifications
Current State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate #070 as a school psychologist
Preferred Qualifications
Strong skill set in assessing and analyzing data to design tiered behavioral supports, including completing Functional Behavior Assessments and developing Behavioral Intervention Plans
Strong understanding of the eligibility criteria for special education
Advanced knowledge of state and federal special education laws and the IEP/PPT process
Experience with SRBI at the elementary school level
Essential Skills, Knowledge Performance Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and staff
Knowledge of Planning and Placement Team processes
Experience with conducting psychoeducational evaluations, interpreting test results and reporting findings
Strong communication skills to articulate programming needs and progress to students, families and school personnel
Expertise in identifying counseling needs and in the facilitation of high quality counseling services to individual students and on a small group basis
Additional Duties
This position reports to the Interim Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services, Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction for General and Special Education and Building Administrator
Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Interim Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction for General and Special Education and the Building Administrator
Terms of Employment
10 Month Employee - 186 Days
Additional ten (10) days beyond 186 days - 5 days prior to the school year and 5 days at the conclusion of school year paid at per diem rate
Based on the working agreement between the Watertown Board of Education and the Watertown Education Association
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, TBD
