POSITION: Special Education Teacher, Grades 9-12th grade

Northwestern Regional High School is seeking a certified special education teacher for a position in the Special Education Department who is committed to classroom leadership, social-emotional learning, and instructional excellence.

Northwestern Regional High School is looking for a creative and innovative educator(s) who are interested in creating a collaborative program and positive school culture for students with exceptionalities.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
 
Must have CT Special Education Certification  (065, 165, or 265)
 
Knowledge of best practices working with students with exceptionalities (including but not limited to): Learning Disabilities (LD)/Dyslexia, Emotional Disturbance (ED), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Executive Functioning Deficits
Recognition and practice to implement social-emotional learning strategies for oneself, adults and students
Excellent teaming, collaboration and communication skills with special education staff, related service providers, regular education teachers and administrative team
Experience and knowledge regarding differentiated instruction and inclusive educational practices
Knowledge of special education laws, policies, and procedures including IDEA and the PPT process
Develop and evaluate measurable IEP goals and objectives
Evaluate students as needed using standard-based and curriculum-based measures
Evaluate students as needed using individualized standard measures (i.e., Woodcock Johnson Test of Achievement)
Supervise educational assistants relative to students on caseload
Establish and maintain family partnerships of students on caseload
Other duties as assigned by the Principal and Special Education Supervisor
