Job Description:
Simsbury Public Schools is accepting applications for an Occupational Therapist to work with students in Grade PK-6 - at Squadron Line and Tootin' Hills. The position is 35 hours per week, 185 days per year. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides specific services to children as determined through individual assessments, Central PPT recommendations and physician prescription.
a. Direct service to children
b. Consultation to parents and staff
c. Indirect service-monitoring of children under doctors' orders
2. Screens through informal observation to determine if evaluation is necessary.
3. Maintains appropriate student progress records and prepares pertinent reports and IEP's as requested by the Director of Special Services.
4. Attends and/or conducts parent conferences.
5. Serves as a member of the Planning Placement Team when students are being considered for OT services or when such placement or services is being reviewed.
6. Serves as a consultant to other school personnel working with children for whom OT services are provided.
7. Provides, orders or assists in ordering adaptive materials and equipment to be used by student in school environment.
8. Attends, when necessary, agency/hospital clinic sessions with child.
9. Provides agency/hospital, private physicians and Director of Special Services with progress notes at time of child's re-evaluation.
10. Acts as a consultant to a school’s early – intervention team as necessary when school teams consider needs related fine motor skills and functioning; conducts screening observation/assessments aspart of this consultative service on an as needed basis.
Salary Range: $96,121 - $101,121 - unaffiliated benefits apply
