Special Education Teacher, Grades 9-12, .6 FTE
Job Summary:
The candidate will be engaged in the following:
Use reliable data to prepare, plan and implement incisively aligned instruction in the resource room and/or classroom setting, with small groups of students and individuals.
Drive, record, and track student learning progress and growth toward academic, behavioral, social, and emotional goals.
Utilize special tools, programs, and equipment to scaffold instruction and to support student learning
Communicate and collaborate with classroom teachers to build better learning environments.
Conduct reliable and valid assessments and evaluations to determine each child's academic levels.
Establish and maintain individualized education plans (IEPs) and other forms relevant to student performance and special education protocols.
Facilitate planning and placement team meetings.
Collaborate with related service providers and behavior therapists (BCBAs) to develop and implement each child's individualized programming.
Supervise and support paraprofessionals as they support student learning in the resource room and classrooms.
Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
CT State Department of Education, Comprehensive Special Education, Certificate 165 or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
Regional School District No. 1 is located in rural Northwest Connecticut and comprise six elementary schools and one high school.
