Job Description:
Benhaven School in Wallingford is seeking two qualified and experienced Speech & Language Pathologists to fill in temporarily. The substitute SLP's will be responsible for providing speech and language therapy services to students with autism and developmental disabilities. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm, 37.5 hour a week hourly position.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to determine student's speech and language needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals based on assessment findings
- Provide speech therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, direct and indirect
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the student's educational team to support student development and progress
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, treatment plans, and communication with stakeholders
- Attend student meetings, PPT meetings, and additional meetings such as Functional Behavior Assessment (FBS), Behavior Support Plan updates/discussions, Futures Planning, and DDS Individual (IP) meetings
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state regulations
Other:
Qualifications:
- Current Speech Pathology license from the Connecticut Department of Public Health
- ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)
- Current Educator Certificate with a Speech and Language Pathologist endorsement from the Connecticut State Department of Education
Preferred Experience:
- Working in CT schools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt to different school settings and work with diverse student populations
- Familiarity with AAC programs such as LAMP WFL, TouchChat, and Proloquo2Go
