Job Description:

Benhaven School in Wallingford is seeking two qualified and experienced Speech & Language Pathologists to fill in temporarily. The substitute SLP's will be responsible for providing speech and language therapy services to students with autism and developmental disabilities. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm, 37.5 hour a week hourly position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine student's speech and language needs
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals based on assessment findings
  • Provide speech therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, direct and indirect
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the student's educational team to support student development and progress
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, treatment plans, and communication with stakeholders
  • Attend student meetings, PPT meetings, and additional meetings such as Functional Behavior Assessment (FBS), Behavior Support Plan updates/discussions, Futures Planning, and DDS Individual (IP) meetings
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state regulations





Other:

Qualifications:

  • Current Speech Pathology license from the Connecticut Department of Public Health
  • ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)
  • Current Educator Certificate with a Speech and Language Pathologist endorsement from the Connecticut State Department of Education

Preferred Experience:

  • Working in CT schools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt to different school settings and work with diverse student populations
  • Familiarity with AAC programs such as LAMP WFL, TouchChat, and Proloquo2Go
