Job Description:

Options is an APSEP located in a large historic home in the West End of Hartford. Our goal is to develop the whole student through the process of implementing required teachings and experiences that are healing and developmental.  All services are Transition informed. We provide services to about 20 middle, high school and transition students ages 11- 22. Students receive very individualized academics many times 1:1 and participate in daily community-based activities. 

Students receive such individualized services to specifically target their areas of needed growth. They do not require low staff to student ratio for behavioral reasons. 

Our Social Work Guidance position combines;

- the responsibility to help students develop areas of interest and pathways to           support their exploration of and skill development in their areas of interest,

- tracking and managing required classes to meet students Program of Studies.

- provide supportive counseling and development of students’ ability for                    competitive learning.

- supervising job coaches, support daily operations and coordinate with teachers.

 - must be able to obtain an A or V endorsement in their driver’s license. 

Therapeutically, Options helps student understand and address feelings, thoughts and behaviors that are counterproductive to their growth. Options team consists of disciplines in psychiatry, neuropsychology, clinical counseling, vocational and educational rehabilitation and SPL. 

Students are taught about their disabilities and symptoms that impede their progress and how to advocate and work with professionals to help minimize the impact or eliminate symptoms. 

Student who attend Options have a variety of disabilities and all are safe to program for in house and in the community. Some of the disabilities include; specific learning disabilities, anxiety, mood and thought disorders, PTSD, attachment disorders and autism.
