Position: Special Education Teacher (BEST Program)

Location: Lake Garda Elementary School

Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Student Services

Starting Date: Commencement of the 24-25 School Year

 

Responsibilities: 

Develop and implement detailed individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student, tailored to their specific needs. 

Provide intensive 1:1 instruction in functional academics, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students. 

Collaborate closely with Behavioral Technicians and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to implement behavior intervention plans and support student progress. 

Work in partnership with Occupational Therapists (OTs), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), and Physical Therapists (PTs) to provide a holistic approach to each student's education. 

Monitor and assess student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies, program books, and IEP goals. 

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation. 

Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies to support learning at home

 

Qualifications:             

 

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in a combination of the following areas:

Valid teaching certification in Special Education. 

Previous experience working with students with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities is preferred. 

Strong knowledge of individualized instruction and behavior management strategies. 

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team. 

A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for making a difference in the lives of students with special needs.
