The Meriden Public Schools seeks a full time special education teacher for the 2024-2025 school year for Israel Putnam Elementary School in the SOAR program.

The special education teacher will work with students with special needs including multiple handicaps, in some cases.  This educator will work with a multidisciplinary team of teachers and will be responsible to prepare vocational activities that support everyday functional living skills, as well as social skill development.  Responsibilities of the special education teacher  also include conducting individual assessments, writing IEP’s, participating in PPT’s, timely reporting of student progress, assisting in development of FBA’s & BIP’s, training and supervision of paraprofessionals, maintaining positive communication with parents, developing student schedules, assisting with toileting, feeding, and lifting as required and other related duties assigned by the supervisor or principal.

Qualifications: 

 A valid Connecticut teacher certification with endorsement #065, #165 or #265 is required.
