Position:                             LTS Special Education Teacher

Location:                            Cromwell High School

Requirements:                   Current CT certification (065) Comprehensive Special Education or (165) Comprehensive Special Education. Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of special education.

Description:                         Under the general supervision of the Building Administrators and/or Director of Student Services, the Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives, follows state-mandated due process procedures and functions as the IEP Case Manager to assigned student.  Implements districts approved curriculum and documents teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes.  Employs various teaching strategies, methods and principles of learning to assist students in achieving their IEP goals.  Effectively manages the classroom/student behavior and collaborate and consult with education professionals and community service providers.  

Start Date:                          Starting mid April for approximately four to six weeks.

Compensation:                   $130 per day for the first 15 days, then day 16 $270.67 per day plus benefits.
