Job Description:

Wallingford Public Schools is seeking candidates for an Extended School Year Director.  The Extended School Year Director shall fill a line position reporting directly to the Director of Special Education.  The Extended School Year Director shall provide the leadership necessary to bring to students an opportunity to use vacation time engaged in a productive and meaningful program of special education instruction directly related to his/her Individualized Education Plan. Must hold 092 endorsement.  Leadership experience preferred.

The Director is expected to begin work in March and work daily in the summer from 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  Special Education Summer School dates are July 1st-August 2nd, 9 a.m. - 12:30, Mon-Friday.

GENERAL STATEMENT

The Extended School Year Preschool Program Coordinator shall fill a line position reporting

directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education. The Extended School Year

Preschool Program Coordinator shall provide the leadership necessary to bring to students an

opportunity to use vacation time engaged in a productive and meaningful program of special

education instruction directly related to his/her Individualized Education Plan in collaboration

with the Extended School Year Director. Leadership experience preferred.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise special education extended school year programming for preschool and

elementary (K-2) students in consultation with the Special Education Extended School

Year Director.

2. Assume responsibilities for attendance accounting and submit enrollment and attendance

reports for PK-2 students.

3. Visit classrooms for supervisory purposes.

4. Work collaboratively with the Extended School Year Director and the Special Education

Coordinators to prepare the summer school schedule and assign students.

5. Requisition classroom equipment, supplies, and textbooks as needed.

6. Prepare enrollment lists in consultation with special education teachers and therapists.

7. Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the

Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Special Education Coordinators.

8. Establish summer school discipline procedures and responsibilities aligned with

Wallingford Public Schools Board of Education policies.

9. Coordinate with Wallingford Parks and Recreation, when necessary.
