Job Description:

Description:  Long-Term Substitute Special Education Paraprofessional 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Maintain confidentiality of all records and documents.

Assist with the implementation of any student plan.

Work closely with students, teachers, nurse, and staff.

Maintain a safe and caring environment. 

Maintain and keep current records and data; prepare and supply reports as needed.

Consult with and assist special ed. teacher in working with students, as needed.

Work with individual or small groups of students as directed by the classroom teacher.

Supervise students in community-centered or optimal learning environments.

Before commencing employment, professional training will be provided as required.

Competencies and Qualifications:

Prefer experience with students with challenging behaviors

Sensitive to and aware of student needs

Courteous verbal communication

Team approach

Computer skills: using software to monitor student performance; communicating with teachers via email 

Positive human relations and the ability to build rapport with children are essential

Knowledgeable and understanding of child development

Able to operate office machines such as copiers and computers or the willingness to learn

Required by the State of CT to be fingerprinted

Minimum of high school diploma; AA or BA degree preferable and any State of CT requirements

 

Working Conditions: This is temporary Long term Substitute Position. Monday - Friday, 6.5 hours per day (8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.) until the end of the 2023-24 school year

Salary:  $102.00 / day
