The Westport Board of Education will hire a strong educator to serve as an Assistant Principal at Bedford Middle School. This position serves as the primary building administrator overseeing special education matters, including the supervision of Individual Education Plans for special education students and the facilitation of Planning and Placement Team meetings. Defining attributes of this individual must include:
At least five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience in a school setting including demonstrated achievement in supervising Individual Education Plans for special education students, facilitating Planning and Placement Team meetings, instructional practices, and staff development and evaluation;
Knowledge of middle school students’ academic, social and emotional development;
Knowledgeable of student disabilities and interventions;
Knowledgeable of special education laws and regulations;
Certification as a special education teacher or related services provider preferred;
Highly capable of leading in a high-performing school-community; and;
Connecticut Intermediate Administrator certification (092).

Salary: Per Westport Intermediate Administrators Agreement - (2023-2026) Secondary Assistant Principal (261 days: $175,305 - $190,749)
