ADMINISTRATIVE JOB OPENING

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPECIALIZED SERVICES

12 MONTH POSITION 

 

 

Supervises Office of Specialized Instruction and reports to the Assistant Superintendent of SEL, Comprehensive Health and Student Affairs 

 

 

Leadership and Evaluation: 

 

Plans, organizes, and directs the districts Office of Specialized Instruction through the department three Directors: Special Education, Speech Language and Related Services and Psychologist and Student Records  

Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Office of Specialized Instruction services in compliance with federal and state standards. 

Develop and implement consistent policies, procedures, and practices within the district and with other partners such as charter schools and out of district placement settings. 

 

Administrative Functions: 

 

Oversees and manages the operations and programs related to the district's Office of Specialized Instruction. 

Manage special services administrative functions supporting the Office of Specialized Instruction and building level administrators in maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines.  

Develop processes and procedures that ensure students are educated in the least restrictive environment 

 

Supervisory and Administrative Activities: 

 

Engage in supervisory and administrative activities to promote the educational development of each student and the professional growth of district/school staff. 

 

Policy Implementation: 

 

Recommend and implement the district’s policies and procedures for the delivery of special services. 

 

Staff Development: 

 

Design and implement staff development plans for educators of students with special needs, including annual needs assessment and arranging in-services activities. 

 

Advisory Role: 

 

Advise Directors, Supervisors and building level administrators, and staff regarding the organization and management of special services aligned with district.  

 

Home Instruction and Transportation: 

 

Supervise the coordination of home instruction for homebound or hospitalized students. 

 

Site Visits: 

 

Visit regularly all school sites where special programs are conducted during operational hours. 

 

Document Preparation: 

 

Prepare various written documents, including budgets, program proposals, analyses, correspondence, and reports required by local, state, and federal agencies. 

 

Representation: 

 

Represent the district at local, county, and state levels in matters related to special services. 

Represent the district within community forums to maintain ongoing community support for educational goals and address issues related to the school environment. 

 

Meeting Participation: 

 

Participate in administrative meetings, board meetings, and other required meetings. 

 

Ethical Behavior and Confidentiality: 

 

Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information. 

 

Collaborative Approach: 

 

Facilitate a collaborative approach to support student success through programs and services involving family and community engagement. 

 

Educational Compliance: 

 

Provide leadership in the development and implementation of educational compliance with federal and state regulations. 

 

Additional Duties: 

 

Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
