Connecticut Administrative Certification (092) and Special Education Certification (065) required.

Goal: To provide leadership to the Pupil Personnel Department from preschool through Grade 5 to ensure consistency and alignment of district, department, and state initiatives, practices, and polices.
Extensive knowledge and background in the area of literacy and numeracy to promote student learning
Work collaboratively with building administrators and instructional supervisors to ensure best practices are being implemented to meet the needs of each student
Experience with the development of and support within self-contained programs
Support collaboration during Leaders of Learning Coalition meetings in conjunction with the Office of Teaching & Learning
Facilitate and coordinate professional learning for all staff in the department in support of HQI.
Knowledge of evaluations and assessments especially in the area of dyslexia
Assist with returning students from out of district placements back to in-district programs
Monitors caseload size in special education and recommends staffing needs
Serve as case manager for out of district placements
Assist in the supervision of special education teachers, related service providers, and paraeducators
Participate in the coordination of parental and community activities, including committees and parent meetings
Recruits and hires staff in conjunction with the Director of Pupil Personnel
Demonstrate knowledge of the state and district’s special education policies and procedures
Assists in the annual budget process, entitlement grant development, and local, state, and federal reports
Maintain working knowledge of CTSEDS
Knowledge of the Connecticut Smarter Balanced assessments, and CT- Alternate Assessments in literacy, numeracy, and science
Attends Board of Education meetings as requested by the Director of Pupil Personnel
Performs other tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Pupil Personnel
