Job Description:
School Social Worker - District Elementary Connections Program at Linden Street School
Certified School Social Worker to work in partnership with the Connections Special Education Teacher in order to meet the needs of elementary age students with significant emotional and behavioral challenges in a primarily self-contained setting.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Maintains appropriate Connecticut Certification as a School Social Worker (#071). LMSW or LCSW preferred.
Demonstrates strong diagnostic skills to address the mental health needs of students and develop effective treatment plans to address obstacles to school functioning
Implements creative solutions to challenging situations
Develops and implements IEP goals for students with counseling services needed to access their special education instruction
Develops and maintains programmatic and individualized function based behavior intervention plans, including data collection and analysis systems
Demonstrates effective communication skills, both verbally and writing, in order to effectively facilitate discussions about difficult topics and to document supports and interventions with supporting details
Skilled at prioritizing daily workload to meet the needs of the program, with priority for student safety
Knowledgeable about the resources and supports available within the greater Plainville community
Empathetic yet objective in order to maintain student wellbeing as a top priority
Trained or willing to be training in crisis response procedures, including de-escalation, restraint, forcible escort, and seclusion, in order to maintain student and staff safety
